Josephine Gomersall Designs
Josephine Gomersall DesignsJosephine designs and makes narrative jewellery and objects. Her practice is concerned with the fragility and preciousness in nature, and the importance of connectedness to nature, simply being in the natural environment, and pausing to observe the detail so often overlooked. She uses mixed media juxtaposing materials; porcelain, precious metals and repurposed vintage tins, and seek to create harmony and balance in her work. Josephine works with calming colours reminiscent of the natural landscape from coastline and countryside, to evoke a sense of place, time, or memory. Through the process of imprinting she is able to capture the essence of collected natural materials, creating a permanent impression of the impermanent.
Jospehine's work aims to comment on the loss of biodiversity due to human impact on the natural environment and encourage treasuring what remains.
