Creative Workshops with Phiona Richards

Every Tuesday 3.30pm - 5.00pm until 1st March (except 16th February), The Resource Centre, 9 Grange Place, Kettering.

This is a Health Belief creative project co-ordinated by artist Carole Miles for the Avondale Grange ward of Kettering which consists of Margarat Road, Cora Road, Doris Road, Edith Road, Judith Road, Jean Road, Stamford Road, Gorse Road, Lime Road, Ivy Road, Centre Parade, Heather Road, Aster Road, Almond Road, Dahlia Road and Weekly Glebe Road.

Since November 2014, artist, Phiona Richards been providing various creative workshops with the theme of "Threads and Chatter" for Kettering Buccleuch Academy and The Green Patch community allotment.

Take pART
FREE Bookmaking and mixed media activities for people living in and around Spalding and Boston

‘take pART' is a new Arts & Health partnership project by artsNK and Transported and will be delivered as a taster programme of free integrated visual arts activities in Boston and Spalding. The project activities are funded by the Mental Health Promotion Fund through the Managed Care Network and Transported.

Following on from the success of the Open Book project, "Small Library of Big Ideas" run by Artists, Phiona Richards and Carole Miles (as The Eloquent Fold) funded by Transported Art; Phiona will now be hosting two mini projects each running for four weeks in Boston and Spalding Libraries.

The workshops will help all participants to discover and develop new skills, build lasting relationships and encourage mutual support in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Bookmaking using maps - 28th January to 11 February (every Thursday)
Creative Journal Making - 25th February to 17th March (every Thursday)

Mixed Media Textiles: Fabric Boxes
Wistow Gallery, Wistow Rural Centre, Leicester, LE8 1QF
Sunday 20th March 10am - 1pm

Learn how to transform fabrics into lbeautiful boxes which are perfect for gift giving, knick knacks or for storing your small treasures in.

During the workshop your will choose fabric and prepare it ready for box construction and finally creative embellishing ideas.

 

Mixed Media Textiles: Photo Textile Necklace
Wistow Gallery, Wistow Rural Centre, Leicester, LE8 1QF
Sunday 20th March 1.30pm - 4.30pm

Explore how to transfer vintage images onto fabric ready to create an eclectic necklace using a mix of haberdashery items and beads from broken necklaces. Bring along your own buttons, lace ribbons to make this necklace more personal.

Bookmaking: Leather Long Stitch Journal

Saturday 2nd April 10.00am - 1.00pm

Learn how make a long stitch journal using reclaimed leather from start to finish. In this workshop you will learn how to prepare your pages for stitching using a bone folder and template. The spine can be enhanced using a coloured thread of your choice. This lovely journal will be your pride and joy for all your sketching and notetaking needs.

Bookmaking: Treasure Keeper Book

Saturday 2nd April 1.30am - 4.30pm

Create a book to store your old postcards, needlework samples or other keepsakes. During this workshop you will learn how to make this gorgeous folded book structure where no stitching is required.
