Paula BriggsPaula Briggs makes porcelain pieces with inclusions - occasionally, a small piece of stoneware may appear. Her work is led by a combination of ideas and material process. The female torso, although rarely as literal translation, leads to a simple, pared down shape.
Paula's current work looks at the very human habit of collecting; the pursuit of order, control and perfection contrasts with the beauty found in the imperfect. A strong personal desire to create process samples adds to these thoughts of collecting, display and archiving.
This leads to work which displays successfully as an installation of multiple pieces, a small group of pieces in conversation, or as a quiet individual piece.
