Shipwrights Way Artist Commission -Telling the Story of the Landscape
Category: Commission Opportunities

The Shipwrights Way partnership in Hampshire wishes to engage an artist to develop links with the local community and to reveal what they value about their local landscape and history. The outcome of the project will be permanent features alongside rural paths to encourage people to discover and enjoy this long distance walking and riding route. The successful artist will work with the Shipwrights Way Project Officer, Steering Group and locally identified groups to develop ideas and concepts for feature works and way markers, creating a clear visual identity for the Shipwrights Way. The artist is encouraged to consider engaging other artists and makers, but must take the lead role to co-ordinate the project in liaison with the Shipwrights Way Steering Group.

The total budget for the commission is £30,000-£50,000, depending on the outcome of a funding bid (decision due in early August). This budget includes: artist's fee, costs to other artists engaged by the lead artist, research, travel, consultation and materials. Please contact Cath Hart cath.hart@hants.gov.uk or 02392 595040
