Learn To Sew for Beginners

Learn the basics of machine sewing straight lines and turning corners to create a simple cushion cover. You will also learn professional preparation, measuring, cutting and pinning techniques as well as gaining an understanding of sewing machines. No need to bring a machine. Fabric Manipulation workshop - Pleat & Fold

This is an exciting creative workshop exploring decorative pleating and folding techniques in fabric. We will learn box and knife pleats, decorative variations, pin tucks and origami-like folds in fabric to create samples for use in quilting, embroidery and fashion projects.
Pattern Alterations

This workshop will show you some basic alterations to make commercial dressmaking patterns fit you better, particularly adjusting the bust size, as well as shoulder adjustments, and grading for waist & hip variations.
Bag making

Develop your sewing skills by making a fabric bag with handles, pockets, lining and a zip using fabulous vintage or upcycled fabric. You will also learn about using interfacing, creating structure and understanding fabrics. This is an ideal workshop if you can already use a sewing machine and want to learn new techniques.
Skirt - Dressmaking for beginners

Learn how to use commercial patterns to create a simple A-line skirt. You will learn about pattern instructions, how to prepare and cut the fabric and construction techniques including interfacing, zips and hemming.

This workshop covers a range of exciting techniques to create raised surface on fabric using stitch and stuffing including stuffed bobbles, padded puffs, basic trapunto and some simple quilting techniques. Sewing Skills - Interfacing and interlining

Find out about what goes in the inside to create a perfect garment. This workshop will cover iron-on and sew in interfacings both traditional and modern, as well as explaining interlinings for couture construction and for adding warm layers. You will leave this workshop with a series of samples and notes for your own dressmaking.
