Associate member Lorna Syson graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Multi Media Textiles in 2009.
After leaving the community of university life, Lorna felt isolated from other designer/makers, so she joined Design Factory as an associate member. Design Factory caught up with Lorna to see if associate membership is all it’s cracked up to be …
"I have found that being a member of Design Factory connects me with like minded people," said Lorna. "Having the team close by and access to the members online forum helps me feel a little less isolated and it's great to read about everyone else’s experiences.
I have applied for a number of exhibitions and responded to call outs from the e-newsletter and I am currently in discussion with a venue regarding a solo exhibition in November 2009. I have also applied to be part of a unique exhibition at a UK venue. The e-newsletter is a great source of information, all of my recent opportunities were sourced through Design Factory.
I have already received enquiries in response to my online profile in the Associate Directory at www.designfactory.org.uk and I am enjoying the recognition from peers as well. It's such a nice feeling when someone recognises your work!”
