A dozen successful candidates have made it through the application and judging panel to become fully-fledged members of Design Factory.
Jewellery designer/maker Alex Williamson of Leicestershire is one of the 12 new members who have worked hard to join Design Factory.
Alex creates her pieces combining soft hand picked leather with precision cut aluminium alongside carefully hand crafted silver links and individually crafted clasps. Each hand crafted piece is inspired by the symmetry of contemporary architecture.
As well as being selected into Design Factory, Alex is also excited to be exhibiting at the British Craft Fair alongside fellow Design Factory member Katrin Moye.
Alex said: “I was very determined to become a member of Design Factory because it was another step towards promoting myself and getting myself out there to a wider audience. There are also so many benefits and opportunities available.”
A keen art student during her school years, Alex went to secretarial college and worked in offices for many years. After having two children Alex worked part time but when she was made redundant took the opportunity to go back to college. After completing a 3D Design course at Leicester College and a BA Hons Multi Media Textile Degree at Loughborough University where she gained a 2:1, Alex developed her jewellery collection.
Alex is joined by fellow new members: Adele Kime, Andrew Lawton, Clive Carpenter, Corrina Rothwell, Finola Delamere, Fizgig Glass, Jason Taylor, Margareth Troli, Massey & Rogers, Nicholas Hobbs, Shona Marsh and Tim Rinaldi.
