One of London’s most popular shopping destinations, Old Spitalfields Market, has teamed up with some of the UK’s most talented designers and makers to host a regular, specially-themed market for one of its new Saturday trading days.
Taking place on the third Saturday of every month, the new Designers / Makers Market will be one of four different themed Saturday markets that are set to take place at the East London site. Sitting alongside other established Spitalfields traders, the new market will include a wide-variety of crafts, including ceramics, fashion, art, furniture and jewellery.
Designers / Makers was formerly located at The Triangle, Hackney and is moving over to Old Spitalfields Market – in time for the first day’s trading on Saturday 5th November – a special showcase day - then continuing every third Saturday of the month.
Andrew Sparrow, director with Old Spitalfields Market, said: “Designers / Makers is perfect for our new themed Saturday trading days and I’m positive that it will prove to be very popular with our ever-loyal customers.”
Sophie Rees, Director of Designers / Makers, added: “We are excited about the move over to Old Spitalfields Market. There’s a great buzz about the whole area and what’s more, the exisiting traders and retailers all have products that complement those of our own so there’s going to be a really good synergy.”
“It’s important to note that we will be drawing upon a pool of designers and makers from all over the UK, not just our own members – so the items on sale will remain fresh and exciting as more and more crafts join in.”
It is planned that interactive craft demonstrations and workshops will be added to the market as it develops in the coming months and more details of this will be announced shortly.
